Hunter Mountain kicks off the lead-up to the 2026-27 winter season with Homecoming Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27, 2026, at the resort base area in the northern Catskills (Hunter, New York, about 2.5 hours from New York City). Per Hunter Mountain's official event calendar and Vail Resorts' newsroom, the weekend is the mountain's pre-season community kickoff and features a can't-miss Ski Swap (buy and sell ski and snowboard gear as riders gear up for winter), a live DJ, food trucks and specialty food & drinks, and rides up to the 3,200-foot summit on the scenic Kaatskill Flyer SkyRide. It is the first of Hunter's fall event weekends, followed by the separate Colors in the Catskills fall festival in October. Full details, including daily schedule, Ski Swap seller/consignment process and times, are listed by the resort as "more details coming soon." Scenic SkyRides require a ticket (free for 2026/27 Epic Pass holders); the ski area itself is not yet open for skiing and riding in September.
