About this event
The Mountaineers plans its historic Patrol Route backcountry team race for March 14, 2027, traveling 19.6 miles from Summit West at Snoqualmie Pass to Meany Lodge near Stampede Pass. The self-supported route follows rugged Pacific Crest Trail terrain with roughly 4,500 feet of climbing and descent through avalanche terrain, tree wells and variable weather. Three-person teams must start, travel and finish together; recreational divisions permit steel-edged ski-touring or splitboard equipment, while elite divisions use lightweight race equipment. Every participant must have completed at least Level 1 avalanche training and have the corresponding badge on a Mountaineers profile before registration. The 2027 date is explicitly described by the organizer as planned and is not yet present on the lodge calendar. Current 2027 registration is not open: the official page explains the intended team-information plus individual-registration process, but its live registration links and displayed fees still belong to the cancelled 2026 edition and are not presented here as current. The event is snow- and safety-dependent; the organizer cancelled 2026 at a 26-inch base and describes 50 inches as the absolute minimum for safe passage.
