Night of the Living Shred brings a free Halloween Chaos Carnival to Etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest on Saturday, October 17, from 7:00-10:00 PM. The current official organizer post and flyer announce a haunted maze, Death Race, secret-obstacle and best-trick contests, a game truck, a costume prize, product giveaways, pizza and drinks. General attendance is free and the organizer says the night has something for everyone. Active riders must still have a current Etnies membership or buy a day pass, have the annual waiver on file, and wear a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads. A resident day pass is currently $3 for ages 17 and under or $5 for adults; the nonresident day pass is $6. The organizer has not published contest divisions, prize details, capacity, a minute-by-minute timetable or advance registration. Check in onsite and call the park before travel if weather is questionable.

Etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest is a staffed, city-operated concrete landmark at 20028 Lake Forest Drive in Orange County. Fresh Google Places evidence resolves the exact facility as operational, with multiple 2026 reviews describing active camps, staff, bathrooms, water fountains and maintained terrain. The City facility page remains live and currently posts daily 10:00 AM-10:00 PM, while Google lists shorter weekday and weekend hours; travelers should call (949) 916-5870 because weather, programming and posted-session changes override both. The City requires a new waiver and membership each calendar year, mandatory helmet, knee pads and elbow pads, and prohibits riding wet concrete. Its posted facility rules allow skateboards, roller skates and inline skates but not BMX, scooters or electric devices.

The park opened on December 13, 2003 after a pioneering public-private collaboration between the City of Lake Forest and Etnies. TransWorld documented Etnies funding and a 150-skater design workshop before opening, then covered the launch as one of the largest public skateparks in the country. The original SITE Design Group layout grew in 2011 through a $1 million, 16,000-square-foot California Skateparks expansion, bringing the complex to roughly 62,000 square feet. The current terrain mixes a huge street and plaza course with banks, hubbas, rails, ledges, a six-stair run, Pier 7-inspired manual pad, A-frame and Euro gap, plus extensive transition: multiple bowls, a backyard pool, mini bowl, a 16-foot cradle and an 11-foot vert wall.

Its editorial and event record spans the park’s entire life. Juice photographed a 2005 session with Jay Adams, Steve Olson, Jesse Martinez, Christian Hosoi and Lance Mountain, and covered both the Goofy versus Regular contest and the major expansion. TransWorld chronicled the first GvR, the first Sheckler Foundation Skate for a Cause, the expansion, a 311-person Guinness-record skateboard lesson and the park’s twentieth anniversary in 2023. Voice of OC’s community photo essay shows the same facility still serving beginners, families and older skaters. The City’s September 2026 council record also marks completion of an energy-efficient LED lighting project, reinforcing the park’s continuing municipal investment ahead of a broader planned renovation.

This is a high-capacity destination but not an unsupervised drop-in plaza: check the current annual membership fee, bring the signed waiver process and full pads, and follow staff instructions. Spectators stay outside the fenced skate area unless permitted. Six existing TrickBook-controlled exact-place images were freshly audited and retained because they clearly document the full aerial layout, street course, bowls, lighting and skateboarding at rider scale; two existing park-tour videos were preserved.
