The City of Escondido is opening the new permanent Westside Skate Spot with a ribbon cutting and all-ages community celebration on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM PST at Westside Park. The official city flyer says the ribbon cutting begins at 9:00 AM, followed by activities, games and time to check out the new skate space. Westside Park is a 2.3-acre neighborhood park at 333 South Spruce Street with an ADA-accessible park setting, restrooms, drinking water, a covered picnic shelter, playground, basketball court and open turf; ordinary park hours are sunrise to sunset. City planning records describe the project as a permanent custom concrete skate park, approximately 7,000 square feet, designed by New Line Skateparks and built by GeoCon Skateparks, with lighting and associated landscape, drainage and electrical improvements. The exact obstacle list, riding-session format and any demonstrations are not published, so TrickBook does not invent a contest, clinic, division, prize or formal practice schedule. The city invitation says the celebration is for all ages and publishes no RSVP, registration fee, ticket, capacity, age minimum, guardian check-in, participant waiver or on-site signup process. Treat entry as open public attendance with no registration requirement announced, while recognizing that ordinary posted park and skate-spot rules still apply. The announcement also does not state whether skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters or inline skates beyond the pictured skateboarder are permitted; the event is therefore categorized conservatively as skateboarding only. No event-specific parking plan, transit route, adaptive-riding program, helmet or pad rule, weather threshold, rain date, cancellation channel, food vendor, rental or equipment-check program is published. Check the exact City of Escondido post before travel for any late changes.
