Special Olympics Tennessee brings its State Winter Games presented by Wellpoint Tennessee back to Gatlinburg January 24-26, 2027. Ober Mountain hosts the event's alpine skiing and snowboarding competition; the broader multi-venue Games also include speed skating, 3v3 basketball, Opening Ceremony, a victory celebration, and Healthy Athletes screenings at Ober Mountain, the Gatlinburg Convention Center, and Rocky Top Sports World. The current organizer page confirms the dates, host venues, and sports but has not yet published the detailed day-by-day competition schedule, event-specific athlete entry deadline or process, spectator admission terms, lift-access terms, roster, results, or livestream. Special Olympics athlete participation is not public drop-in registration: current Special Olympics rules require eligible athletes age eight or older to register through an accredited program and submit the applicable athlete registration, medical, release, and likeness forms. Families, athletes, coaches, volunteers, and spectators should use the current organizer page and contact Special Olympics Tennessee before making plans; ordinary Ober lift tickets are not represented as event registration or spectator admission.

Under the current Special Olympics General Rules, athletes must be at least eight years old to compete with official results and must be registered through an accredited program.
