About this event
OC Parks' Saddleback Beginner Ride is a small, docent-led introduction to singletrack at Saddleback Wilderness in Orange County. The two-hour outing covers about 4-5 miles and 250-350 feet of climbing on non-technical trails with gradual climbs and descents, a few short steeper hike-a-bike possibilities, turns, switchbacks and small drop-offs. Leaders plan regrouping and interpretive stops, point out remnants of the historic Saddleback motorcycle park and native-plant restoration work, and pause at the vista over Orange County and the San Bernardino Mountains. It is family-friendly but not a first-ever bike ride: the registration page sets a minimum age of 14, a level-2 difficulty, and says some trail experience is needed. Riders must bring their own suitable mountain bike, helmet, several bottles of water and snacks. Advance online registration is mandatory, there is no walk-up entry, and the live organizer page showed 9 of 15 spaces left during October 1 verification. Directions to the exact staging point are released after registration.
