Vans Skate Space 198

Vans Skate Space 198 is a free, purpose-built indoor skatepark at 198 Randolph Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Fresh Google Places resolves the exact identity as OPERATIONAL at 40.7096807, -73.9251095. The official Eventbrite organizer is actively publishing free sessions in October 2026, including sold-out sessions today and additional sessions next week. Current Google hours are Monday 7:00-10:00 PM, Tuesday-Wednesday closed, Thursday 4:30-9:00 PM, Friday 2:00-9:00 PM, Saturday 12:00-9:30 PM and Sunday 12:00-7:00 PM. Timed reservations and special events control access, so check Eventbrite before traveling.

This is category Park with parkType Skatepark, isIndoor true and sportTypes limited to skateboarding; it is not a DIY and does not permit BMX, scooters, roller skates or inline skates. Sessions are free but capacity-limited. Every participant signs a waiver. Skaters under 18 must wear a helmet, and a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign and remain during the session. Current listings say pads and gear can be provided if needed. The Jefferson Street L station is about a six-minute walk; street parking in the surrounding industrial Bushwick blocks is limited.

Vans opened the facility in January 2020 after 18 months of planning with California Skateparks and local New York skaters. The large lit warehouse course blends street and transition riding: quarterpipes and wallrides create a flowing perimeter around banks, hips and roll-ins, while the center carries flat bars, down rails, manual pads, boxes, low ledges and hubba-style edges. Varied concrete, metal and textured details reinterpret familiar New York street forms. Low obstacles and dedicated kids sessions support progression, while longer rails, transfer lines and steeper transition suit experienced riders.

The park functions as a year-round community venue as much as a weatherproof course. Its programming has included annual Vans Block Parties, video premieres, free lessons, community markets, skate raves, Quartersnacks Thaw Outs and Skate Jawn/Village Psychic food-drive jams. TransWorld selected it second in a 2024 national guide to seven indoor U.S. skateparks, while Juice, Skate Jawn, Quartersnacks and NY Skateboarding have documented its opening, riders, obstacle changes and community role.

Thrasher was searched first across exact Vans Skate Space 198, Skate Space 198, Space 198, Bushwick and Brooklyn combinations. No stable dedicated Thrasher feature was verified, so no Thrasher search, tag or archive page was retained. Thirteen exact features across Vans Skateboarding, TransWorld SKATEboarding, Juice Magazine, Skate Jawn, Quartersnacks and NY Skateboarding are preserved. Ten exact-place Google photo candidates were visually reviewed; three complementary contributor images were retained on TrickBook-controlled storage and seven child-focused, lounge-only, redundant or weaker candidates were excluded. No magazine imagery was copied.
