Dave Downing is a long-serving American Burton pro who came to snowboarding from a surfing background in California, and whose fluid, whole-mountain freeriding made him a fixture of 1990s and 2000s snowboard films. He counts his Standard Films parts in TB4 and TB5 among his best video work, and a famous 2001 Trevor Graves photo of him jibbing a downed ski-lift cable in Las Lenas, Argentina became an archive classic. At Burton he helped develop the Custom board line from its inception and later shifted toward freeriding and behind-the-scenes work with Burton and its Gravis, Anon and Analog brands; he is married to fellow pro snowboarder Shannon Dunn.
