Jim Rippey (born May 11, 1970, in Quincy, California) turned pro in the 1991-92 season and became one of US snowboarding's defining 1990s backcountry freestyle and big-air riders, with a seven-year Burton pro model and parts in Standard Films' Totally Board (TB) video series. He won the 1997 Air & Style in Innsbruck and the straight jump at the 1997 Burton U.S. Open, and in 2001 landed the first-ever backflip on a snowmobile, earning ESPN's Feat of the Year. After Burton dropped him in 2003 he became a pastor in Reno, Nevada, and has served as an X Games chaplain.
