Joe Lax is a big-mountain and backcountry snowboarder from Pemberton, British Columbia, known for sled-accessed exploration and multiple first descents across the Coast Range, Meager Group, Tantalus Range, and Waddington Range. A 20-year veteran of the BC Wildfire Service, he also works as a photographer and writer, with features in Backcountry, The Snowboarder's Journal, Powder, and Mountain Life. He is one of the nine riders in Arc'teryx's snowboard film 'Between Days' (released December 2025), shot in the Japanese Alps during a season-defining storm cycle.
