Mat Schaer

Mat Schaer is a Swiss backcountry snowboarder from the Champery-Les Crosets area of the Portes du Soleil, who grew up riding the famed 'La Zone' freestyle spot at Col de Cou and later worked with Absinthe Films filmmaker David Vladyka. He is listed on Absinthe Films' own roster for the 2018 movie 'Stay Tuned' (credited as Mat Schar) alongside riders like Nicolas Muller and Severin Van Der Meer. He rides for Jones Snowboards, where he is listed as a regional ambassador, and is known for sharing avalanche-safety lessons after surviving a large slide on 31 January 2020.
