Terje Haakonsen (b. 1974) is a Norwegian snowboarder widely regarded as the most influential rider in the sport's history, winning three ISF World Championship halfpipe titles (1993, 1995, 1997), three US Open halfpipe finals and seven Mt. Baker Banked Slaloms. He famously boycotted the 1998 Nagano Olympic qualifiers, founded The Arctic Challenge in 2000, and set a 9.8-metre quarterpipe air world record in 2007. A Burton and Oakley rider since his teens, he has starred in films from 'Subjekt Haakonsen' (1996) to 'Supervention' (2013), with Whitelines writing that no early pro 'had such a profound or lasting effect'.
