About this event
Far West Masters schedules two giant slalom races at Mammoth Mountain on Saturday and Sunday, December 5-6, 2026. The organizer currently lists GS on both days, but race venue/course, start times, check-in, communications, entry fees, entry deadline, lift-ticket arrangements and daily finish times are still TBA. Registration is not yet open: the first-party schedule says it opens in November 2026 and explicitly says there are no day-of-race signups. Do not travel expecting to enter at the hill. Far West Masters says racing is open to skiers age 18 and older from beginners through former World Cup athletes. A current U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Master membership or eligible short-term Alpine Master membership is required; racers doing more than one Far West weekend must also join Far West Masters. The current organizer membership page lists Far West dues at $20 through November 23, then $25, and U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Master membership at $144; those are membership costs, not this event's still-unpublished race fee. The current registration guide says online registration is through Masters AdminSkiRacing, typical early entry is the Sunday before with a $5-per-race late fee afterward, typical final entry/cancellation is 7:00 PM one or two days before racing, and every entrant must appear on the start list. Event-specific deadlines will control once posted. Giant slalom requires a FIS-certified race helmet marked 'Conform to FIS Specifications RH 2013'; no helmet cams or projecting attachments are allowed. Competitors may not continue after losing a ski or missing a gate in GS, and fast/shadow course inspection is prohibited. The organizer warns weather or snow conditions may change the schedule and says cancelled races are not charged. Check the live schedule, registration portal, registered-competitor email/text updates and Mammoth operations before departure. The retained image is a current first-party schedule capture with the Dec. 5-6 Mammoth row, GS/GS program, registration-opening month and no-day-of-race-signup warning visible.
