About this event
The 19th Annual Good Dirt Ride is a supported, non-timed mountain-bike fundraiser that starts and finishes at Applied Medical's R100 campus in Rancho Santa Margarita. Riders choose 10-, 15-, 25-, or signature 50-mile routes through the Tijeras Creek and Arroyo Trabuco network; the longer options add O'Neill Regional Park, Live Oak, Vista, Twisty Tire, Waterworks, and, for the signature route, Caspers Wilderness Park. Current organizer material describes the 10-mile option as an active-novice/youth-friendly ride of about two hours and 400 feet of climbing; the 15-mile option adds technical singletrack for active novice-to-intermediate riders; the 25-mile route is about 25.4 miles with roughly 2,200-2,400 feet of climbing for strong intermediate riders; and the signature route is about 47 miles with roughly 4,800-5,000 feet of climbing and a five-to-seven-hour target for trained riders. Aid stations, mechanical support, course volunteers, food trucks, a beer garden, live music, and a large prize drawing round out the day. Proceeds support Orange County Mountain Bike Association trail work and Africa Rising Cycling programs. This is a ride, not a race: no timing, rankings, purse, or podium is advertised.
At a glance
Open to mountain bikers who can safely complete their selected route. The 10-mile route is positioned for active novice and younger riders; 15 miles for active novice-to-intermediate riders; 25 miles for strong intermediate riders and above; and the signature route for trained, experienced riders prepared for roughly 47 miles and 4,800-5,000 feet of climbing.
