The Vail Grail 2026 — 4 & 8 Hours of Temecula + Vailocity Enduro

The Vail Grail is Team Big Bear's marquee late-season mountain-bike weekend, returning to Vail Lake Resort on Highway 79 South between Temecula and Aguanga (Riverside County / Inland Empire) on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, 2026 — a new date, moved from its original November 7 slot. It bundles three races into one festival-style weekend: the 4 & 8 Hours of Temecula (a timed lap-based endurance race for solo riders and 2-, 3-, 4- and family-fun teams who complete as many laps of the Vail Lake singletrack as they can inside the four- or eight-hour clock), the Vail Voltage 4 & 8 Hour E-Bike Race (the same endurance format for e-MTBs), and, on Sunday, the Vailocity Enduro — a gravity-format, multi-stage timed enduro on the resort's purpose-built Vailocity Bike Park trails. Promoted by Team Big Bear, the Fawnskin-based crew behind SoCal's longest-running MTB calendar (and the same Vail Lake venue that hosts the Kenda Cup XC series, the Orange Seal U.S. Pro Cup and Dirtyfest), the weekend is USA Cycling sanctioned; any racer can buy a one-day USAC license for $15, making the endurance race one of the most accessible team-relay entry points in the region. Saturday runs a 7:00 a.m. registration and 8:15 a.m. mandatory pre-race meeting, an 8:30 a.m. 4/8-hour start (e-bikes off at 8:35), 4-hour finish and awards around midday, and the 8-hour finish at 4:30 p.m. with awards to follow; Sunday's enduro course opens for practice at 8:00 a.m. and the race starts from the top at 11:00 a.m., with awards immediately after the last rider. The dry, rocky, chaparral-covered Vail Lake course — fast fire-road climbs, chunky descents and flowing singletrack around the reservoir — plus a full vendor village, on-site KOA camping and a family-friendly atmosphere make it a classic SoCal season closer.
