About this event
June Mountain opens its 2026/27 winter season on Saturday, December 19, 2026, with a family-focused skiing and snowboarding celebration at June Lake. J1 begins carrying guests to the Chalet at 7:30 AM, Bucky and friends lead the annual first-chair banner breakthrough at J2 at 8:30 AM, and the resort hosts an 11:00 AM winter toast at the Chalet. The linked Mammoth/June event calendar publishes a 4:00 PM event close. Operations, terrain and the date remain weather- and conditions-dependent; check the live Mountain Report before committing to the roughly 395-mile drive from Southern California. A valid lift ticket or accepted pass is required to ski or snowboard. Children age 12 and under can receive June's complimentary Child Season Pass for unlimited June Mountain access all season; it may be reserved for $0 in advance or issued free at the Ticket Office on arrival, with proof of age required if the birthday on file indicates the child is older than 12. Adults and teens can buy advance single- or multi-day tickets, but opening-day pricing is dynamic and must be confirmed in the live checkout. Non-skiing guests can normally buy a $25 scenic J1 ticket at the ticket counter to reach the Chalet; availability for Opening Day should be confirmed with June Mountain. Parking is at 3819 Highway 158 and can fill on busy weekends, so arrive early. June Mountain is outside the normal Los Angeles radius and is retained narrowly as a major Eastern Sierra destination-resort opener promoted to Southern California riders, with family access and snow terrain unavailable in core LA.
