KASSO Fest Skate & Sound — Long Beach 2026
About this event
KASSO Fest Skate & Sound was the United States debut of KASSO, the Japanese obstacle-course skateboarding format — often described as “Ninja Warrior on a skateboard” — staged over two days on March 21–22, 2026 at Old Hall Plaza (the former Long Beach City Hall block), 333 W Ocean Blvd in Downtown Long Beach, California. Created by TBS Television, Inc. (Tokyo Broadcasting System, Japan) and produced with The Brand Agency, the 2026 Long Beach edition was the first KASSO ever broadcast live, carried on Red Bull TV and the Red Bull Skateboarding YouTube channel. A field of 28 professional skateboarders — including Kyle Walker, Torey Pudwill, Franky Villani and David Loy alongside international pros and young Olympians — took on a run of purpose-built, water-lined obstacle courses rather than a conventional street or park contest, with hosts Selema Masekela and Boo Johnson calling KASSO the sport’s “great equalizer.” The four signature courses were the Long Beach Downhill (a speed-and-reflex descent featuring a tricky “Mount Fuji” section), the RailCoaster (an ~85-foot run of round rails, curves and turns over a pool, carrying an unclaimed $5,000 bonus for a flawless 100% clear), the Grasshopper (eight platforms skaters had to leap between or splash into the water), and the climactic Million Jump, where the top three skaters from each day attempted to clear a massive rising wall off a half-pipe launch across the event stage. New York’s Jiro Platt, 19, made KASSO history as the only rider to complete the Million Jump final, winning the first stateside KASSO crown and the $10,000 grand prize. The festival paired the competition with live music — LaRussell, EARTHGANG and Andy Mineo on Saturday, The Mainliners on Sunday, with DJ Secret Service — plus art and community programming, ticketed general-admission and VIP access via Ticketspice, and premium on-site parking. This record documents the completed 2026 event; the full replay and highlights remain available on Red Bull TV and Red Bull Skateboarding’s YouTube channel.
