The National Scholastic Surfing Association opens its 2026–27 Gold Coast Conference Explorer season with a two-contest weekend at C Street / Surfers Point in Ventura on September 26–27, 2026. Saturday is Event #1 and Sunday is Event #2 of the eight-event regular season. The organizer's current shop exposes purchasable variants for 11 divisions after the ordinary deadline: Men's, Juniors, Boys, Menehuene, Super Groms, Women's, Girls, Super Girls, Longboard, Women's Longboard and Super Seniors. A current annual NSSA membership is required separately. The normal entry deadline was Tuesday, September 22 at 5:00 PM Pacific. NSSA says entry after that point costs more and is accepted only if space remains, so the live variants indicate a late-entry route rather than guaranteed inventory. Ten current products display $95 or $100 Event #1/#2 prices, while Super Seniors displays $120; entrants must confirm the final checkout amount. The Boys product contains an organizer date defect—its Event #1 and #2 labels say September 27 and September 28, conflicting with the live official schedule's September 26 and 27 dates. The schedule controls, and Boys entrants should contact NSSA before payment. Division age is calculated as of January 1, 2027. Competitors must physically surf six of eight Gold Coast events in their division to qualify for the West Coast Championships, subject to NSSA's published make-up rules. Spectating from the public beach is free. Exact first call, check-in, heat draws, contest-bank position and awards timing are still unpublished, and dates or locations can change for surf, weather or operations.
At a glance
Open to current NSSA members in a listed Explorer division; this is not described as invitation-only. Age is calculated as of January 1, 2027. The season provides all-ages adult divisions, youth divisions from 10-and-under upward, longboard divisions and Super Seniors 45-and-up.
