About this event

The 2027 NSSA West Coast Championships bring the National Scholastic Surfing Association's Open, Explorer and Airshow regional titles to Seaside Reef in Cardiff-by-the-Sea from Thursday, May 20 through Sunday, May 23, 2027. NSSA's current championship calendar and important-information notice independently confirm the four-day Seaside Reef occurrence and say championship dates may change. This is a qualification-only regional championship rather than public walk-up entry. Under the current 2026–27 rulebook, West Coast participation is limited to West Coast members or surfers who qualified through another approved region, with qualification based on year-end ratings and required conference participation. The rulebook's Southwest Open example requires surfing at least five of seven season contests; each conference sets its own mandatory number. Competitors also need current NSSA membership, signed entry waivers and academic compliance. Current Open divisions run from U10 through all-ages Mens, Womens and Longboard; Explorer adds U11–U18 youth brackets, all-ages divisions, adult Masters through Duke, longboard and SUP. The official 2027 West Coast championship entry form, event price, deadline, capacity, confirmed qualifiers, heat draw, daily first call, check-in point, exact competition bank, awards timetable, webcast and backup plan are not published. NSSA's registration notice currently links to general membership, regular-season conference entry forms and West Coast conference checkout, but the entry-form center does not list a 2027 championship-specific form. Registration is therefore marked not yet open—not closed—and no same-day entry is announced. Spectating from the public state beach has no announced event ticket; normal parking charges and beach rules apply. The current visitor guide describes Seaside as a paid day-use lot with restrooms and showers. Surf, tide, weather, water quality, permits and lifeguard direction can change the bank or daily clock, so recheck NSSA and LiveHeats before every competition day.
