The National Scholastic Surfing Association opens its 2026-27 West Coast College team season at Black's Beach in San Diego on October 24-25. NSSA's current organizer announcement says 33 college teams are entered and that the schedule and heat draw will be posted shortly, with live scores and results available through NSSA LiveHeats during the event. Daily start times, division order, check-in details, the precise contest bank, and an awards time were still unpublished at the October 24 research checkpoint. The current college-team shop no longer offers Event 1 as a selectable entry, so this listing does not imply that public, late, walk-up, or same-day registration remains available. Black's Beach has difficult access below unstable cliffs; spectators and teams should use official access guidance, stay away from cliff walls, account for tides, and follow lifeguard and event-staff directions.
At a glance
Competitors must be current NSSA members and satisfy the NSSA college academic and team rules. The current rulebook requires college competitors to carry at least two academic courses per grading period and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, subject to the organizer’s verification rules.
