OHLAY Clairemont Takeover 2026
About this event
OHLAY Brand took over San Diego’s YMCA Krause Family Skate & Bike Park, better known as Clairemont Skatepark, for a full-day freestyle scooter jam presented by S1 Helmets. The progression-first format used seven park spots for 30-minute jam sessions rather than fixed skill divisions: riders were rewarded for pushing their own riding and trying new tricks, with a beginner-only opening jam for ages 13 and under and all-day participation open to every registered age and ability. The announced $5,000 cash pool included $500 at each spot, a $1,000 overall award, and a $500 best-trick award, plus scooter-part giveaways. Families and spectators were welcomed, and riders received an all-day park pass with entry. This completed San Diego event is directly relevant to Los Angeles-area scooter riders because it was a rare all-ages Southern California freestyle scooter contest held at a purpose-built 60,000-square-foot regional venue roughly 120 miles south of central Los Angeles.
At a glance
Open to scooter riders of all ages and skill levels, including first-time competitors. The day began with a beginner-only jam for riders age 13 and under; beginner and younger riders could also join the other jams throughout the day. The format rewarded personal progression rather than ranking riders only by absolute difficulty.
