About this event
Royal Gorge Cross Country's flagship event, the Gold Rush Festival, returns March 20-21, 2027 on the all-new Gold Rush Long Loop. Saturday, March 20 features wax clinics, sunset youth races, and festival fun. Sunday, March 21 brings the marathon races: the Bronze Rush (15 km), Silver Rush (25 km), and the legendary Gold Rush (50 km). The Gold Rush course — one of the most majestic in the Sierra — takes skiers near Point Mariah, Snow Mountain Overlook, and Devil's Peak Overlook while gaining 3,500 feet of elevation over 50 km. A historic California citizen cross-country marathon, the Gold Rush is a bucket-list Sierra spring race that also supports Nordic junior development. (The 2026 races were cancelled for low snow, with entries deferred to 2027.)
