Scholastic Surf Series LA–Santa Barbara High School — Zuma 2026

The Scholastic Surf Series opens its 2026–27 Los Angeles–Santa Barbara High School schedule at Zuma Beach Tower 14 in Malibu on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The current first-party team draw and division heat sheet now provide the complete operating day: team-versus-team surfing starts at 8:00 AM PDT, bodyboard team and individual finals run at 10:30 AM, individual heats begin at noon, surfing is scheduled through 4:00 PM, and awards begin at 4:10 PM. The organizer does not publish an awards finish time. Team heats are Santa Barbara vs. Palisades at 8:00, Carpinteria Red vs. Loyola B at 9:15, and Loyola A vs. Cate at 10:45; Carpinteria Black has a bye into individuals. Competition uses 15-minute heats across boys and girls shortboard and longboard plus coed bodyboard. Competitors must be full-time students in grades 9–12 representing their school, maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, be approved by their coach, and complete SSS registration, waiver, emergency-information, and roster requirements. The coach-facing roster deadline was Wednesday, October 7 at 6:00 PM PDT; the event is now underway and no beach signup or walk-up competitor entry is published, so this occurrence is correctly marked entry closed even though the general season-registration portal remains online. The 2026–27 packet lists an $85 student membership and a $2,600 LA–Santa Barbara team fee, while each school determines what it charges its surfers. Spectating at the public beach does not require an event ticket, though normal Zuma parking rules and fees may apply. Results are not yet posted on the official schedule page. Zuma provides parking lots, restrooms, showers, daylight lifeguards, an April–October access mat, and beach wheelchairs; attendees should follow contest-zone, lifeguard, beach, and coach directions and recheck first-party sources for any same-day weather or results update.
