Whittier Narrows BMX invites first-time riders and families to a free USA BMX Racing League Open House on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at its dirt BMX track inside Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte. This two-hour introduction lets prospective riders try BMX racing in the same supportive, small-group format used by the five-week fall league. The organizer says bike and helmet rentals are free, so newcomers do not need race equipment to participate; the live official registration form includes a $0 Open House option and asks whether a loaner bike or helmet is needed. The session is designed for brand-new riders and families, with licensed USA BMX coaching focused on track comfort, basic riding skills, gate starts, and the rhythm of a BMX race. Register in advance through the active USA BMX/RedPodium form and select Open House ($0.00). Riders must be at least age 3 by the league start date shown in the form; the associated youth league serves boys and girls ages 3-17, while a parent-rider option is for adults 18+ who have a child registered. The follow-on five-week league runs October 24-November 21 and costs $149 for youth or $109 for a participating parent; it includes instruction, a league jersey, Mongoose number plate, annual USA BMX membership for new riders, awards, and a pizza party. Those league fees are context only: this October 10 Open House is free. The track is outdoors and weather-sensitive, so check @whittiernarrowsbmx before traveling. Numeric capacity, a waitlist, an Open House registration cutoff, and a rain date are not published.

Whittier Narrows BMX's Fall 2026 USA BMX Racing League gives brand-new riders a structured path from their first coached laps to their first open race. The South El Monte program starts Saturday, October 24 and combines five beginner-only instruction and celebration sessions with a November 28 race-day finale. Sessions are usually Saturday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, with one Friday evening lesson on October 30; the official track page lists race-day activity from 5:00 to 7:00 PM after a 2:00-4:00 PM registration window. Licensed USA BMX coaching covers track confidence, bike handling and race fundamentals in small groups. Youth registration is $149 for boys and girls ages 3-17; a $109 adult parent-rider option is also active. Tuition includes a league jersey, Mongoose BMX Racing League number plate, trophy, awards-and-pizza celebration, J&R Bicycles swag bag, free loaner bike and helmet use, and a full one-year USA BMX membership for new riders. This is a true first-timer program, not extra training for established racers: participants must be able to ride a pedal bike independently, and riders with an active or expired USA BMX Full Membership are ineligible; Balance Bike, STACYC and one-day memberships remain acceptable. Registration is live through USA BMX/RedPodium and closes at 11:59 PM on October 24, the night of Week 1. Loaner equipment is first come, first served, so register early and tell the organizer what is needed. The outdoor dirt track is weather-sensitive. Numeric capacity, waitlist details, refunds, make-up sessions and a rain schedule are not published; the program FAQ says missed sessions have no make-up option.

Brand-new riders and first-time racers who can confidently ride a pedal bike independently. Minimum age is 3 as of October 24, 2026. Existing or expired USA BMX Full Membership holders are not eligible; Balance Bike, STACYC and one-day membership holders may participate.

Future beginner league; no results yet. The November 28 first-race finale is part of the program.
