About this event
The SoCal Youth Cycling League closes its five-race 2027 cross-country mountain-bike series with Race 5 Finals at Keyesville BLM Recreation Area on April 3-4. The organizer marks the weekend confirmed. Current team guidance identifies middle-school racing on Saturday and high-school racing on Sunday; the final race flyer, race-village pin, pre-ride blocks, check-in, wave times, lap counts, awards schedule and course files are not yet published, so all clock times remain TBA. The event is for registered SoCal League student-athletes in grades 6-12 who meet the league's California residency, age, enrollment, team or independent-rider and category-placement rules. A current team page labels Finals “all riders welcome,” meaning eligible league riders rather than unrestricted public entry. Season 19 onboarding is live, but the organizer has not published a Keyesville-specific checkout, fee, deadline, capacity, waitlist or race-day signup process. Do not infer that race entry is free from the LeagueApps portal's displayed Free Agent role. Current team guidance describes Keyesville as legendary Sierra-foothill singletrack: grassy, undulating terrain through oak trees with intermittent fire-road climbs and loose, gravelly descents. Riders need an approved helmet and a compliant human-powered mountain bike with functional front and rear brakes, knobby tires, gears, plugged handlebar ends and a visible season number plate. Student e-bikes, road/cyclocross bikes, drop bars, slick tires, headphones and outside mechanical assistance are restricted under the current league rules. Exact Finals course difficulty, distance and lap assignments remain TBA. BLM manages the venue as the Keysville Special Recreation Management Area, using the modern “Keysville” spelling; the league uses “Keyesville.” The public-land area has more than 70 miles of routes and dispersed camping, but the organizer has not yet published an event camping zone, reservation, fire rule, potable-water, toilet, waste, parking, road-access, accessibility or spectator plan. BLM directs visitors from the CA-178/CA-155 junction at Lake Isabella toward the South and North entrances. The map coordinate here is the public recreation-area gateway, not a guaranteed race check-in pin. The SoCal League weather policy allows its executive director to delay starts, shorten courses or laps, move the venue, stop immediately for lightning, resume if safe or declare racing complete. Weather cancellations do not generate event-fee refunds; pre-event non-weather refund or transfer requests follow the league's published timing and email process. Recheck the official race card, event flyer, registration portal and @socalleague immediately before travel.
At a glance
California residents enrolled in grades 6-12 at a public, private or homeschool program. Middle-school racers must be grades 6-8 and ages 11-15 during the school year; high-school racers must be grades 9-12 and ages 13-19 and must not have graduated. Team riders in good standing and independent riders in good standing may enter this series race without an additional qualification standard.
