About this event

Spooky Skate is the City of Malibu Community Services Department’s free, all-ages Halloween skate jam at Malibu Skate Park inside Malibu Bluffs Park. From 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2026, skateboarders, freestyle-scooter riders, roller skaters and inline skaters can use the park during a relaxed community session with festive music, food trucks, Witch Broom relay races, Zombie Tag and prizes. The live Rec listing identifies course 2026SPOOKYSKATE, classifies it for all skill levels and showed registration open with 57 spots remaining on October 15. A first-party City of Malibu reel published October 10 confirms this is the first Spooky Skate Jam, repeats the Friday October 16 3:00 PM start at Malibu Skate Park, and directs riders to MalibuCity.org/SpookySkate. Participants must create or use a Rec account, add the $0 session to their cart and complete checkout; registration is required, and no walk-up guarantee or separate on-site signup rule is published. The program is staffed by Malibu Community Services. The official calendar names Interim Recreation Coordinator Alexandra Elizondo as the event contact at AElizondo@MalibuCity.org or (310) 456-2489 ext. 426. Spectators may attend without a ticket, but City rules keep spectators outside the active skate area. Current Skate Park rules require every rider—not only game participants—to wear a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. E-bikes and motorized equipment are prohibited, and food, drinks, glass and animals are not allowed inside the skate area. Malibu Bluffs Park lists onsite parking and the current City venue page covers park access, but no event-specific parking allocation, transit plan, equipment loans, costume rules, food-truck lineup, activity timetable, waiver terms, waitlist policy or rain date is published. The current Community Services page points participants to the City refund-request process; because this session is free, no event-specific refund value applies. As of the October 15 10:00 PM Pacific recheck, the City had not posted an event-specific cancellation and the free checkout remained active with 57 spots. Conditions nevertheless escalated after the prior check: the City reported a rapidly growing brush fire and evacuation warnings for zones MAL-C113 and MAL-C114 in western Malibu, while Southern California Edison shut off power across most of central and west Malibu and traffic signals may be dark. Malibu Bluffs Park is not named in the warning post, but the event is outdoors and local conditions can change quickly. Check City emergency alerts, evacuation-zone status, road conditions and the registration page immediately before travel. Registration remaining open is not a guarantee the event will proceed.
