About this event
The Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival returns February 2-7, 2027, hosted by the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club at Howelsen Hill and throughout downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Established in 1914, the carnival is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the West and honors the snow sports that define Ski Town, USA. Family events and athlete exhibitions run at Howelsen Hill through the week, while the signature Street Events on Lincoln Avenue feature children on skis and snowboards pulled behind horses down the snow-covered street (ski joring, slalom, donkey jump and dash-style events) alongside the Diamond Hitch. The Saturday-night Winter Carnival Extravaganza at Howelsen Hill showcases ski-jumping and athlete exhibitions under LED lights and flares, the Lighted Man and his pyrotechnics, a fiery hoop, and a fireworks finale.
