About this event
USA BMX brings its 2026 Southwest Gold Cup Championship Final to San Diego BMX from September 18–20. The outdoor Kearny Mesa track is roughly 120 miles south of central Los Angeles, making this the nearest confirmed Southwest regional final and a major LA-relevant race weekend for Southern California riders and families. Friday is the double-district pre-race: on-site signups run 1:00–3:30 PM, age- and bike-group practice runs 1:30–4:50 PM, Balance Bike stages at 4:50 PM, and racing starts at 5:00 PM. Saturday signups run 7:30–9:30 AM, practice 8:00–11:20 AM, Balance Bike stages at 11:20 AM, and racing starts at 11:30 AM. Sunday racing starts at 8:00 AM with no registration or practice. The USA BMX page currently shows live Pre-sign status, but online pricing and the final online cutoff are behind member sign-in and are not represented as known. On-site entry is explicitly available Friday and Saturday; there is no Sunday registration. All riders need an appropriate current USA BMX membership. The one-day and 60-day trials are only valid for practice and single-point races, so they do not qualify a rider for this multi-point final. Riders may enter a Gold Cup Final, but eligibility for a Southwest series plate and jacket requires two Southwest qualifiers plus racing both Saturday and Sunday; Open or Mixed Open riders can pursue the separate overall jacket route by racing both days. Friday awards double district points; Saturday and Sunday award Gold Cup plus quadruple district points. The official flyer lists $10-per-day parking, no camping, three event vendors, and the precise track entrance behind Kearny Mesa Recreation Center. No spectator admission, reserved seating, capacity, livestream, weather policy, or event-specific accessible viewing plan has been published.
At a glance
Current USA BMX members may race the final in the appropriate age, gender, proficiency, wheel-size, Balance Bike, Open, or Mixed Open class. One-day and 60-day trial memberships are not valid for this multi-point final. To earn a pointed Southwest Gold Cup plate and jacket, race two Southwest qualifiers and race both Saturday and Sunday in the same region. Riders may race more than one regional final. Open or Mixed Open riders who race both Saturday and Sunday may compete for a separate overall jacket; Open classes do not receive Gold Cup plates.
