About this event

USASA Slalom/Giant Slalom 1 & 2 brings a full day of youth ski and snowboard racing to Bear Mountain on Sunday, December 20, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Big Bear Mountain Resort places the competition on Ripcord, subject to operational change, and presents it as the first stop in its 2026/27 on-snow USASA calendar. The race is a restricted Team Bear competition rather than a public open: the official event page says racing is exclusively for registered Team Bear athletes, and the current Team Bear program serves accepted skiers and snowboarders ages 6–17. Team Bear applications are the first step toward the season program but do not guarantee acceptance or an event start; the organizer has not published a separate race checkout, event fee, deadline, capacity, roster, waitlist, walk-up process, start order, division list, inspection window, awards time, or guardian/check-in procedure. Spectators may follow the race in person, but there is no standalone event ticket or reserved viewing program. Anyone who needs chairlift access must hold a valid resort pass or lift ticket, and course-side viewing remains subject to Bear Mountain closures and staff direction. December 20 is a published paid-parking date at Bear Mountain: upper-lot parking is listed at $30–$40, is first-come/limited, and advance purchase is recommended; public lots plus free Mountain Transit or resort shuttles are alternatives. The event is weather-, snow-, terrain-, and operations-dependent. Ripcord, daily access, and the published schedule can change, so riders and spectators should check the official event page and mountain report before traveling. Bear Mountain is in the San Bernardino Mountains, roughly 100 road miles from central Los Angeles, and is included as a core Inland Empire snow venue with terrain unavailable in urban LA.
