CicLAvia—Heart of LA 2026

CicLAvia—Heart of LA is CicLAvia’s 68th open-streets event and the 18th edition of its Heart of LA route. On Sunday, October 11, 2026, 6.5 miles of Los Angeles streets connect Echo Park, Chinatown, Downtown, Little Tokyo, the Arts District and Boyle Heights without through car traffic. The public event runs 9:00 AM–4:00 PM and is free, all ages and drop-in: there is no ticket, registration, start line, finish line or race clock, and participants may enter or leave anywhere. Skateboarders, roller skaters, inline skaters and riders of non-motorized scooters are explicitly welcome alongside cyclists, walkers, runners and other people-powered travel. Four hubs—Echo Park, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Mariachi Plaza—provide water refills, ADA-compliant restrooms, first aid, basic bike repair, bike parking and first-come complimentary pedicabs. Route traffic moves in both directions. Keep right at slower speeds, pass on the left, obey staff and dismount where directed. The route includes elevation and dense mixed traffic, so CicLAvia recommends prior riding experience instead of using the day to teach a first-time rider. Helmets are strongly recommended for everyone and legally required for riders under 18 on bicycles, scooters, skateboards or skates. Electric scooters, electric skateboards, hoverboards and motorcycles are prohibited; mobility devices for people with disabilities are welcome. Main route streets close to cars generally 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, with some setup closures beginning earlier, and route parking is prohibited 1:00 AM–6:00 PM with towing enforced. Metro rail serves every section; event-day bus detours are linked from the official page. Unlimited Biking plans limited bicycle pickup and drop-off at Echo Park, and Metro Bike Share plans a Little Tokyo pop-up from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM. No skateboard, skate or scooter loan program is announced. The event proceeds rain or shine.
