About this event
CicLAvia—Heart of LA is a free, all-ages open-streets day on Sunday, October 11, 2026, when 6.5 miles of Los Angeles streets become a car-free route connecting Echo Park, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the Arts District, Boyle Heights and Downtown. Participants may enter or leave anywhere between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM; there is no starting line, finish, race clock or required registration. Skateboarders, roller skaters, inline skaters and riders of non-motorized scooters are explicitly welcome alongside cyclists, runners, walkers and other people-powered travel. Four activity hubs anchor the route at Echo Park, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Mariachi Plaza, with water-refill stations and ADA-compliant amenities. The route operates in both directions and includes notable elevation, dense mixed traffic and potentially steep sections, so CicLAvia recommends prior street-riding experience rather than using the event to teach a first-time rider. Keep right when moving slowly, pass on the left, obey volunteers and dismount where directed. Helmets are strongly recommended for everyone and are required by California law for riders under 18 using bicycles, scooters, skateboards or skates. Motorcycles, hoverboards, electric skateboards and electric scooters are prohibited; disability mobility devices are welcome. The event is rain or shine. Metro stations serve multiple points along the route, complimentary pedicabs run between hubs first come/first served, and limited bike rentals are planned at Echo Park and Little Tokyo. Street parking on the route is prohibited from 1:00 AM to 6:00 PM with towing enforced. The Little Tokyo Hub address below is a practical map anchor, not a mandatory check-in point.
