About this event

The 2026 USA BMX Freestyle / Monster Army Recon Tour opened its season at Clairemont Skatepark — the YMCA Krause Family Skate & Bike Park — in San Diego, California, over the weekend of April 25–26, 2026. As the first of the tour's five stops (and one of two Southern California rounds alongside the private Dreamyard stop in Riverside), it ran the series' new festival-weekend format: Saturday, April 25 hosted the Monster Army Recon Series — a UCI Class C1 contest for Elite Men and Elite Women plus developmental Intermediate (ages 13–25), Sport (ages 13–25), and Women Open (13 & over) classes — while Sunday, April 26 ran the USA BMX National Series across youth Boys, Girls, Women, and Men age groups. Unlike the athlete-only Dreamyard round, this stop was held at a public municipal skatepark, and Recon Sport-class results counted toward the USA BMX Year-End National Rankings. Rain forced the Pro/Elite Men's final to be cancelled, so the podium was decided on qualifying scores: Monster Energy's Bryce Tryon won the Elite Men title with 84.66, ahead of teammate Brady Baker (82.07) and Monster Army's Kaden Stone, completing an all-Monster podium sweep, and Tryon collected a $1,000 winner's check. In Elite Women, reigning world No. 1 Hannah Roberts won with 84.00 over Monster Army's Saige Thunstrom (71.33) and Helen Berry (50.00). The developmental Sport class went to Monster Army's Aaden Reed — who landed an alleyoop 540 flair and a 360 flip — ahead of Ronan Fazio. Sitting about 120 miles south of central Los Angeles, the event is included as a major Southern California national-series freestyle stop and the second BMX freestyle contest in TrickBook's Los Angeles event inventory. Exact daily qualifying and finals times, full class-by-class results beyond the Elite finals and the Sport podium, spectator/ticket specifics for the public park, and any full replay beyond the Monster Army highlight edit are not comprehensively published.
