About this event
Whittier Narrows BMX turns its Saturday local race on September 19 into Radical Race Night, a one-night Los Angeles County BMX program featuring regular BMX racing, FatBoy mini-BMX racing, balance-bike racing, a graduation celebration for BMX Racing League Class #003, a free BMX race-parts swap meet and food vendors. The organizer calls all BMX Racing League graduates to join the celebration, while the official USA BMX event record identifies the night as an active Whittier Narrows local race. On-site sign-up and practice begin at 5:00 PM. USA BMX lists registration ending at 7:00 PM and race time at 7:15 PM; the newer organizer flyer and caption say sign-ups continue until 7:15 PM with racing to follow. Riders should arrive before 7:00 PM rather than rely on the later social cutoff. Pedal-bike racing is $15 and balance-bike racing is $10. The track accepts cash or Zelle for its current Saturday program; the event flyer does not publish online preregistration, refunds, capacity or a waitlist. A USA BMX membership is required to ride at a sanctioned track, but first-time novice riders can obtain a one-day membership at the track for practice and single-point local races. Balance-bike riders compete in Novice-only age classes 2, 3, 4 and 5; a parent or guardian must sign the USA BMX membership waiver, and the rider must be able to ride the track without being followed during the race. Pedal riders need a working-brake bicycle, helmet, long sleeves, long pants and closed-toe lace-up shoes; the track permits 16-, 20- and 24-inch single-speed street bikes and mountain bikes but prohibits kickstands, axle pegs, reflectors and chain guards. The organizer does not publish separate FatBoy mini-BMX class, equipment or eligibility rules, so those riders should confirm with the track before travel. Enter from Rosemead Boulevard near the baseball fields. The track currently states $10 parking before 5:00 PM but does not explain the rate after 5:00 PM. The county park lists restrooms, parking and concession facilities, though its general published restroom hours end at 7:00 PM, so late-night restroom access is not guaranteed. Track-condition updates are directed to the organizer’s Instagram and Facebook; no rain date, formal cancellation policy, livestream, result link or finish time is announced.
