About this event

The Western Surfing Association holds Stop #2 of its 2026–27 Salt Life WSA Championship Tour presented by Got Milk? at Ocean Beach in San Diego on September 19 and 20, 2026, at the beach beside the Ocean Beach Municipal Pier. This is a regular-season amateur contest open to any competitor who holds current WSA membership, pays the event entry fee, signs the liability waiver, and enters a listed division — it is not invitation-only. Registration is open now through SurfSignup and closes September 16, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific. The event runs a full age-bracketed ladder: shortboard from Mini Groms (6 and under) and Micro Grom push-in classes up through Boys’ and Girls’ U10–U18, Men’s 18–29, Masters 30–39, Seniors 40–49, Legends 50+, and Open Men’s and Open Women’s; longboard divisions from U14 and U18 through Open and Senior Men’s 40+; and a full para-surfing and waveski program (PS1–PS3, PS Prone 1–2, PS VI1–VI2, PSK, and Para Waveski). Entry is $90 for Mini Groms, Micro Grom push-in, and the youngest U10/U12 brackets, and $100 for every other division, with current WSA membership required separately. WSA sets division age as of January 1, 2027, and requires proof of age; returning surfers are seeded on prior-season points, surfers moving up receive 80% of their points as a seed, and new surfers are added alphabetically at the bottom of the seed. First-round heat draws and the full heat schedule are published as a downloadable document in the days before the contest; competitors must check in with the beach marshal before their heat and be checked in by the five-minute mark or risk being replaced, and a missed heat drops the surfer to the bottom of the alternate list with no refund. Ocean Beach is a free, fully public San Diego city beach, so watching from the sand or the pier is open to everyone at no charge. Ocean Beach sits roughly 120 miles south of central Los Angeles — an established public-ocean contest break on the LA-regional WSA Championship Tour whose other stops run at Huntington Beach, Oceanside, Dana Point, and San Onofre. Per-division outcomes feed the WSA 2026–27 season ratings that decide season titles and USA Surfing pathways.
