About this event
Western Surfing Association launches WSA Gold with a one-time proof-of-concept contest for invited U12, U14, U16, and U18 boys and girls at Newland Street in Huntington Beach. The elite junior format uses limited fields, four-person heats, professional judging, computer scoring, and priority in every heat. This standalone event does not count toward qualification, seeding, or rankings for the 2027–28 WSA Gold season. Invitations were based on each surfer’s best two results from the first three regular WSA events; acceptance closed October 19, accepted invitations must be paid by October 21, and any unfilled positions are offered to alternates in WSA ratings order.
At a glance
Invitation only for current WSA members in the boys’ and girls’ U12, U14, U16, and U18 divisions. A surfer may compete up only if that surfer earned the invitation through regular WSA ratings in the older division.
