Lexus US Open of Surfing 2026
About this event
The Lexus US Open of Surfing Presented by Pacifico is the world’s largest surf competition and the signature action-sports event of the Los Angeles / Orange County coast, staged annually on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier since 1959. The 2026 edition ran daily from Saturday, July 25 through Sunday, August 2, 2026 and combined two World Surf League (WSL) professional divisions with a massive free beach festival. On the competition side, the men’s and women’s draws formed Stop No. 2 of the 2026 WSL Challenger Series — the primary qualification pathway shortboarders use to reach the elite Championship Tour — while the longboarders contested a stop of the 2026 WSL Longboard Tour, decided earlier in the week on Tuesday, July 28. Beyond the surfing, the event footprint south of the pier featured live music at the WSL Beach Bar stage, a ticketed Music Stage concert series, food and drink, action-sports brand demos, athlete signings, movie screenings, and DJ sets, drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators over the nine days. Admission to the beach and to watch the surfing is free and family-friendly; the surf action was also streamed live on worldsurfleague.com and the WSL app. This record documents a completed event: entry is a closed WSL professional field, results are final, and full-heat replays are available. Huntington Beach ("Surf City USA") sits in the TrickBook Los Angeles core (Orange County), making the US Open of Surfing the marquee professional surfing event of the region.
At a glance
Competition entry was limited to qualified WSL professional athletes (Challenger Series for shortboard men and women; Longboard Tour for longboarders), plus event wildcards. The event is not an open-entry contest. Spectating, by contrast, was open to the general public and free.
