Vans Jack’s Surfboards Pro presented by 805 — Huntington Beach 2026
About this event
The Vans Jack’s Surfboards Pro presented by 805 is the annual World Surf League Qualifying Series contest that opens the WSL North America pro season on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier — the checkerboard heart of “Surf City USA.” The 2026 edition, a men’s and women’s QS 4,000, ran across an April 22–26 waiting period alongside a free beachfront festival of 55-plus surf-lifestyle vendors, games, food, and a livestream on the Jack’s Surfboards and WSL platforms. Competition is professional: surfers earn WSL ranking points (4,000 to each winner) that feed the North America regional Qualifying Series standings and the pathway toward the Challenger Series, so the field runs through WSL seeding rather than public walk-up. Heats are scored on a two-best-wave total, building to man-on-man Finals. The 2026 contest produced an all-Orange-County sweep: 17-year-old hometown surfer Bailey Turner of Huntington Beach mounted a come-from-behind final to beat Carlsbad’s Reid Van Wagoner for her maiden QS win with an 11.00 heat total, while Newport Beach’s Parker Cohn broke through for his first QS title, holding off defending Lexus US Open of Surfing champion Levi Slawson of Encinitas 11.60 to 10.84. Both winners left the event atop the WSL North America Qualifying Series rankings. Competition was briefly paused for safety: after surfing on Thursday, April 23, a shark was sighted, and under WSL and City of Huntington Beach protocols the contest area was closed for a 24-hour hold until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, before the event resumed Saturday and finished Finals Day on Sunday, April 26. Free public viewing is from the sand and the pier; standard City of Huntington Beach paid parking applies at pier-adjacent lots and meters. This is a completed event — results and replays are archived on the official WSL event page, and no registration or ticket link is active.
