San Onofre Surfing Club Annual Surf Contest 2026

The San Onofre Surfing Club brings its multigenerational annual club contest back to San Onofre Surf Beach on October 3–4, 2026. It is a members-only competition built around the mellow cobblestone-reef waves and beach culture that have defined San O for generations, with adult and youth entry paths and a field spanning all ages. The club’s 2026 president specifically describes children as young as one being pushed into waves, while the current registration announcement warns that several age divisions changed this year; the exact 2026 age bands and heat draw have not yet been posted, so riders should verify their division before checkout. Online entry is currently $40 for adults and $20 for youth age 17 and under through September 27. A current 2026 San Onofre Surfing Club membership must be confirmed before a rider is placed on the roster; a one-time 2026 membership is currently $25. The organizer advertises conditional beach entry after the online deadline at $50 for adults or $30 for youth only when space remains in the division, but the same notice also says no entries after September 27. TrickBook therefore treats preregistration as open through September 27 and does not promise same-day entry. There are no refunds. Contestants must be available on the beach before 7:00 AM on both contest days. The Surf Beach kiosk opens at 6:00 AM, and the organizer strongly recommends joining the vehicle line much earlier because weekend capacity is routinely overwhelmed. Breakfast and lunch are included for participants. The heat schedule will be released on the club website, Facebook and Instagram. Spectators do not need a separate event ticket, but San Onofre Surf Beach is a California State Parks day-use area with first-come parking; the current posted vehicle fee is $15 regular or $20 on special seasonal/holiday weekends and may change. This is a regionally relevant Los Angeles inventory event because San Onofre is a historic Southern California surf venue about 65 miles south of downtown LA and ocean contests necessarily follow the coast.
